One of the questions currently being asked by candidates who applied to the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) is: When will UNILORIN release the admission list for the 2026/2027 academic session?
Candidates who participated in the 2026/2027 UNILORIN admission process are understandably eager to know when they will be able to check their admission status.
The University of Ilorin has completed its 2026/2027 Post-UTME screening exercise, and the university has provided an important update concerning the admission of new students. However, candidates should note that an exact date for the release of the admission list has not been officially announced.
This article explains what is currently known about the UNILORIN admission list 2026/2027, how to check your admission status, and what candidates should do while waiting.
When Will UNILORIN Release Admission List 2026/2027?
At the time of writing, UNILORIN has not announced a specific date for the release of the 2026/2027 undergraduate admission list.
However, there is an important development for prospective students.
According to an official University of Ilorin update published on August 23, 2026, the Chairman of the University Admissions Committee stated that the university was prepared to admit new students for the next academic session, which is scheduled to begin on October 5, 2026.
The university also stated that all new students expected to resume for the session would have been offered admission before the reopening date.
This means candidates should expect admission processing and updates to take place before the commencement of the 2026/2027 academic session.
However, candidates should not treat October 5 as the admission-list release date. It is the stated date for the beginning of the new academic session, not a confirmed date for publishing the admission list.
Has UNILORIN Released the 2026/2027 Admission List?
As of the latest official information available, UNILORIN has not published an announcement specifying that the complete 2026/2027 undergraduate admission list has been released.
Candidates should therefore avoid relying on unofficial websites or social-media posts claiming that the list is out unless the information can be confirmed through the university or JAMB.
The safest approach is to regularly check:
- The official UNILORIN admission portal
- The official UNILORIN website
- JAMB CAPS
- Official announcements from the University of Ilorin
The university itself has advised prospective students and the public to rely on its official communication channels for accurate information.
UNILORIN 2026/2027 Admission Process So Far
The admission process for the 2026/2027 academic session has already progressed beyond the application stage.
UNILORIN opened its 2026/2027 pre-admission screening registration in June 2026. The university’s official screening instructions stated that admission would be based on an aggregate of the UTME/Direct Entry score, Post-UTME screening score and relevant O’Level grades.
The university later announced that its 2026/2027 Post-UTME screening exercise would take place from Thursday, August 13 to Saturday, August 15, 2026.
With the screening exercise completed, candidates are now waiting for the next stages of the admission process.
How UNILORIN Admission Is Processed
Candidates should understand that admission is not necessarily completed immediately after the Post-UTME examination.
The university has to process candidates based on its admission requirements and available spaces in different programmes.
Admission processing may involve factors such as:
- UTME or Direct Entry performance
- Post-UTME screening performance
- O’Level results
- Course requirements
- Available spaces
- Admission guidelines
- JAMB admission processing
The university’s 2026/2027 screening instructions specifically state that admission offers will be based on an aggregate of the relevant scores.
Because of this, candidates should be patient while the admission process is being completed.
How to Check UNILORIN Admission Status
When admission updates become available, candidates should check their status through the appropriate official platforms.
Method 1: Check Through JAMB CAPS
JAMB CAPS is one of the most important platforms for checking your admission status.
Follow these steps:
- Visit the official JAMB e-Facility platform.
- Log in with your JAMB profile details.
- Select the admission status option.
- Select the appropriate examination year.
- Check your admission status.
- If you have been offered admission, carefully review the details.
- Follow the instructions to accept the admission where applicable.
Candidates should continue checking JAMB CAPS because admission status can be updated as institutions submit and process candidates.
Method 2: Check Through the UNILORIN Portal
Candidates should also monitor the official UNILORIN portal.
The university has specifically directed candidates to use its official portal for admission-related activities. Its 2026/2027 screening instructions identified the UNILORIN undergraduate portal as the appropriate platform for candidates.
Candidates should avoid using links obtained from unknown sources.
What If My JAMB CAPS Says “Not Admitted”?
If your JAMB CAPS currently displays Not Admitted, there is no need to panic immediately if the admission process is still ongoing.
Admission is processed in stages, and not every candidate receives an admission offer at the same time.
You should:
- Continue checking JAMB CAPS.
- Monitor the UNILORIN portal.
- Check official UNILORIN announcements.
- Make sure your O’Level result has been properly uploaded to JAMB where required.
- Avoid paying anyone who promises to secure admission for you.
A candidate should only consider the admission process concluded when the relevant official authorities have indicated that admission processing for the session has ended.
What If My Status Says “Admission in Progress”?
If your JAMB admission status says Admission in Progress, it generally means your admission has not yet been finalized on the platform.
Candidates in this situation should remain patient and continue monitoring their status.
Do not pay anyone claiming that they can change your status from “Admission in Progress” to “Admitted.”
Will UNILORIN Release the Admission List in Batches?
Candidates should understand that admission information does not necessarily have to appear for every candidate at the same time.
Universities may process and upload candidates at different stages.
Therefore, even after some candidates begin seeing admission offers, others may still be waiting for their own admission status to be updated.
If you do not see your admission immediately, continue checking the official platforms.
When Will UNILORIN Admission Start for 2026/2027?
The University of Ilorin has indicated that the new academic session is expected to begin on October 5, 2026.
The university’s Admissions Committee stated that new students expected to resume for the session would have been offered admission before the reopening date.
This gives candidates an indication of the university’s admission timeline, although it should not be interpreted as an official admission-list release date.
Important Warning to UNILORIN Candidates
Candidates should be extremely careful during the admission period.
The University of Ilorin has warned admission seekers about fraudsters who may attempt to exploit candidates and their parents.
The university’s Admissions Officer stated that admission into the university is highly organised and automated and that candidates should not be asked to pay someone before being offered admission for a course.
Therefore, candidates should never send money to an individual who claims to have access to the UNILORIN admission list or promises to influence the admission process.
What to Do While Waiting for UNILORIN Admission List
While waiting for the admission list, candidates can take the following steps:
1. Check JAMB CAPS Regularly
Do not check once and stop. Admission status can change as processing continues.
2. Monitor the UNILORIN Portal
Keep your login details safe and check the official portal for updates.
3. Check Your O’Level Result
Make sure your O’Level information has been properly uploaded to JAMB where applicable.
4. Keep Your Documents Ready
Prepare documents that may be needed for clearance if you receive admission.
These may include:
- JAMB result
- JAMB admission letter
- O’Level result
- Birth certificate or declaration of age
- Local government identification where required
- Passport photographs
- Screening documents
- Other documents requested by the university
5. Ignore False Admission Lists
